Heroes Global Championship Kicks Off Tomorrow

The Heroes of the Storm eSports season for 2017 is about to get underway with the Heroes Global Championship, an immense league of HotS players squaring off starting tomorrow. In the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC), top professional teams battle for supremacy in regional premier leagues, pausing only for elite international exhibitions and a Mid-Season Brawl on their way to the HGC Finals. The Heroes Global Champions will take home the crown and the winner’s share of a grand cash prize.

The opening match of the new HGC is a big one, as Team Dignitas will be taking on Misfits on the EU side, while Team Naventic will take on Tempo Storm in the opening match of the NA bracket. Fnatic, Synergy and Team 8 will also be competing in the first weekend, which will feature four games each day from Friday, January 20th through Sunday, January 22nd.

Broadcasts will begin on Twitch and Facebook starting at 9 am PST. You can check out the league’s new website for more information and can follow the complete schedule of HGC competition here.

We’re also excited to disclose preliminary details on the Mid-Season Brawl, the first major international tournament of the year. For MSB, Heroes eSports will return to DreamHack Summer in Jönköping, Sweden on June 17 with $250,000 up for grabs to the twelve best HGC teams from around the globe.

These events should be an exciting year for the Heroes of the Storm eSports scene—when the HGC gets underway on January 20, there will be no shortage of competitive play to enjoy. Join us on January 17 for the relaunch of the official HGC site, updated to feature the comprehensive 2017 schedule as well as league standings, news, VODs, and more.

Our Thoughts

The Heroes Global Championship is one of the biggest Heroes of the Storm tournaments the game has to offer, and we are eager to see how this game will carry an entire league’s worth of play. Here’s hoping that the HGC captures eSports and HotS fans alike!
